Fantasy Impact: McCown Starting for Raiders

Raiders coach Lane Kiffen has announced that Josh McCown will be starting for the Raiders in the place in Daunte Culpepper this week. McCown started the first two games, but was injured and replaced by Culpepper, who, despite 5 total touchdowns against Miami, was very, very, whelming.

I've always had an unnatural affinity towards the McCown family (even Randy), but will this move make waves for the Raiders?

So far this season, McCown has completed 64.7% of his passes for a 7.3 yard average per attempt, while Culpepper only managed 56.0 % and 6.5 yards per attempt. In 125 passes, Culpepper had 4 TDs and 4 interceptions. In half as many passes, McCown has thrown 4 TDs and 5 interceptions. So it looks like McCown will be slinging it, taking chances, getting more yardage through the air, but also a few more interceptions. He'll help your fantasy team more than he'll help the Raiders, due to the interceptions. He should regularly put up about 200 yards and 1-2 TDs while starting, but may not start the entire season, as he is just holding a place for Jamarcus Russell.

This should help all the Raiders backs and recievers, but it is very good news for Ronald Curry owners, who had 12 catches in the first two games with McCown at the helm, but only 17 catches in 5 games with Culpepper.
